Bright ideas…
Here you can find out about some of the ways we light the Town up! Difference bulbs we use, and the ways in which we create Motif’s and the Tree lights!
LED rope light
We use this on Motifs, and to line buildings etc as in the case, very bright, very
hardwearing, very expensive and can be controlled to give animation -
LED Dot Matrix signs
Signs such as this were built by us using wood, or later plastic frames which were
drilled with lettering, then individual LED are installed to light up the lettering,
very effective, very hard work. A sign such as the one above actually costs us around
£30 to create -
Christmas Tree
We spend A LOT of time making the Tree look its best! Find out more about it by clicking HERE!
Motif’s
Find out how we make these by clicking HERE!
LED ‘filament’ lamps
We are experimenting with these superb new LED lamps that recreate the filament effect usually lost on LED lamps. Many colours available, but expensive compared with conventional Filament lamps, however these are exceptionally strong, low consumption and will last many hundred times a conventional filament bulb.
LED Matrix displays
Similar to the signs sometimes seen in shops and train stations, or if your unlucky
in the back of police cars! We have purchased for ‘pocket money’ some of these boards
from China, which with some adaption can be made to display large messages, we are
currently looking at using these to display messages on Motifs -
LED colour change lamps
Used extensively in 2010, these lamps change through a cycle of colours, and are either synchronised together so that all change the same, or random to allow a multi colour display. They are very low consumption and ‘unbreakable’ but are more expensive than a conventional Filament lamp.
LED Golf ball lamps
Used a lot in 2010, however offer a different kind of light to the Filament or even LED filament lamps, and don’t work well with Covers of any kind. These are however low energy ( less than 0.5 watt in most cases ) and quite tough. Future purchases will lean towards the filament version of these.
Filament Lamp
A normal run of the mill filament amp as used in houses everywhere, we use 240V 10w
or 15w bulbs, but they are still power hungry, delicate, and because of the delicate
filament they blow regularly -
Individual LED’s
We usually purchase these directly from China, to our specifications and often have
them pre-
LED strip
In some cases we use this over Rope lights, for its more flexible properties, although its supplied in much shorter lengths making it not much use for large buildings, but smaller outlines etc are ideal. Often low voltage, so ideal for use where people may be able to contact it!
